In October of 2018, I challenged myself to write a minute of music every day. Each piece would be based on the Inktober prompt for that day and I could write in any style to suit that mood or concept. I ended up with a lot of pieces I was proud of but juggling college and this was a bit much.

In 2019 I was busy writing for my senior recital, blissfully unaware of the looming pandemic. No attempt was made.

This year, stuck at home, I decided to give it another shot.

The idea was for it to be a fun, creative exercise that pushed me out of my comfort zone.

In reality, an incident mid-challenge put me behind a week and I ended up having to write many of the tracks on the same day. I don't think this takes away from the quality of the pieces but It definitely was more time-consuming than I would have liked. It still is something I want to try again next year, though. Writing music, no matter how all-consuming it may be at times, is a genuine joy.

Plus, I can use this as a portfolio showcasing my musical versatility.
